Don't believe anything they write about. The mortgage crisis is so far from over and turning a corner?? What flavor kool aid are you drinking?? Expert realtors/economists have said it will take at least 10 years to see housing prices like they were in 2005 before the crisis. You and the NYT writing false stories do nothing but give people false hope. This country is so corrupt. The government and the Federal Reserve are in bed with the big banks. They gave the banks Trillions of dollars at the tax payers expense and the banks still foreclosed on all the people and threw them out in the streets. Stop lying to people. Check your facts.

Re: 2 Snags That Could Hurt Your Chances for a VA Loan

Give me a break, Obama has done more for the military than Bush ever did. It can take a LOT longer than you thought! We bought an older house 3+ years ago and right away my daughter said she and her live-in BF could rehab it in no time. While living in it and paying us rent. Three years later, BF is long gone and all the walls are still missing! Also, no rent. She says she will finish it, this year or next year, or? My brother-in-law also bought a house this year and the rehab is going very slowly. The house was in MUCH worse shape than he thought. Point: ALWAYS pay for a professional inspection BEFORE you buy a house! Know what you are buying. We didn't.

Re: What Lower Rates Mean To VA Loan Borrowers

Since my credit is not very good, lower rates don't mean a thing as I cannot get financing.

Re: What’s Stopping You? If you know what you're doing, then rock n roll, but if you don't know what you're doing and you screw up, it will cost you dearly to fix things and I mean dearly. So don't mess around and try to fix something that you're not sure about. Give it to a professional, don't take chances. You'll wished that you've taken heed to a word of caution. I found out the hard way, but fortunally, I was in the construction business and I had friends to help me out when I messed up... big time. So do yourself a huge favor, don't try to fix it yourself if you don't know for sure how to. Otherwise, you'll wished there was no hell on earth... believe me.

Re: How to Use a VA Loan to Purchase Investment Property

still have to Focus on Jobs. my son was first feet on the Ground in Iraq * years military service and then collage and now has his Masters and gave last year teaching w/o a pay and now out of work.
Please people lets give to the real hero's .

Re: Will VA Borrowers Soon Need 20 Percent Down?

Bob, I am trying to get support with this proposal. What do you think of it? What can you do to help out? I have several others ideas on Federally Insured Housing for Military Veterans. How many properties out here require renovations for our returning Veterans that have conditions? None. I have a way of reducing housing inventory, increase employment, and develop communities. I need someone to listen. Is that you?

Think about this. Housing is a
hot topic for our economy. How can we marry our military and our economy
together to make us a stronger America?

Think about: HUD REO's, 50% discounts and our
military. Good Neighbor Next Door. Today, six out of every ten properties
require renovation. We have our Military force returning from War with
conditions that require property to have renovations done to them. How many
properties do you know of that are ready for their needs? Imagine offering the
FHA 203k, to our Military, to purchase ANY Foreclosed property with a $500.00
down payment. Work with them regarding the conditions regarding the HAP Program
that (may, or may not) be working for them. There is a lot that goes into this
proposal, however, I do believe this offering will help our economy, stabilize
our neighborhoods, add jobs, and most importantly stand by our Military.
Perhaps getting the Department of Veterans Affairs to endorse this program and
bridge the gap between agencies. Perhaps the DVA can provide their Certificate
of Eligibility?

The HAP Program is administered through the Army
Core of Engineers. Another challenge I see in the current market, is that our
Military members are not eligible HAP since they do not fit the criteria. Many
are forced to move because they have orders but are unable to sell their
current homes because of the reduction in values over the last few years. This
is especially difficult if their housing allowance changes at their new
location to a lesser amount.

The current HAP Program is administered through
the Army Corp of Engineers. Currently they have purchased prior to May 2005 and
sale it prior to September 2012. Our service members that purchased after that
are still victims of the market. Many are forced to hang onto homes they can't
afford because of short sale will affect their credit and security clearance. I
don't feel that our service members, who are relocated during their service
tenure, should suffer negative effects on their credit if the military
relocates them. I think the banks should allow a short sale without the
negative reporting to credit bureaus if they meet certain requirements. Your
thoughts?

Re: Working With Customers to Build Credit and a New Future

Same with my husband he is 100% disabled and when he got out of the military the waiting for disability messed up our credit badly, it used to be a 721 now it's 523, It's sad that our credit is stopping our family from having our own home.

Re: 4 Simple Ways to Start your House Hunt

Simple 1. Get pre approved with a real bank and not fly by night mortgage brokers. 2. Interview several Buyer Agents and IF you can find a PURE buyer agent or an agent who ONLY works buyers and never sellers, even better.
3. Stay away from USAA unless you want to pay higher interest rates, higher closing costs and take average of 17 days longer to close or If you want a realtor who is a SPECIAL USAA Realtor who they try to steer you to one, well they will do their best to steer you to higher commission and more expensive homes. Why, well because they have to make up for the 37% of the commission they have to kick back to USAA. Anyone USAA suggest you use kicks back to them and thus higher cost to you !!. Bottom Line get your own Realtor, Mortgage Bank, Home Inspector etc. USAA NOT your friend.

Re: Americans Still View Homeownership as Part of American Dream

You never actually own your own home or your own land or anything for that matter. The "American Dream" is a myth. If you don't agree with that statement try not paying your land taxes or IRs for a little while and see how much of what you "owned" suddenly isn't yours anymore. Not to mention the many people out there that have lost their homes and lands due to 'Imminent Domain".
